The Nature Makers and Climate Champions, a joint project between Community First Oxfordshire and Wild Oxfordshire is pleased to provide a free opportunity for you to learn about the lesser known green spaces in North Faringdon.
The wander will start at the allotments on Lechlade Road (managed by The Allotments Society) where bees, butterflies and moths are hard at work pollinating a myriad of plants and vegetables. There will be a short walk to All Saints churchyard to hear about the work to create a biodiverse green space and to spot seasonal plant species. There will be another short walk to The Wilderness, a piece of land next to the Hobble which Faringdon Town Council want to make a wildlife sanctuary. Friends of The Wilderness will be on hand to talk about plans to preserve and develop the area and provide access to schools, local community groups and residents.
Wild Oxfordshire will lead the walk and provide insights and stories along the way. There will also be a fun ‘Spot the Wildlife’ sheet to guide younger participants and information about wildlife gardening.
All are welcome but those under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
Please be prepared to walk and wear comfortable shoes
Car parking is available at the Gloucester Street car park, a 10 minute walk from the start.
