Our headliner for January, Matt Bragg has opened for many of the biggest names in comedy, including John Bishop, Jason Manford, Suzi Ruffell and Ricky Gervais. The evening promises to be a riot, with two excellent acts in support and our very own Samantha Day as host.
Headliner – Matt Bragg
Matt is a master of delivery, with timing that keeps you hanging on the edge and then the edge again. His dry humour and subtle anecdotes leaves the audience listening intently wanting more of the cool, calm and collected comedian.
The son of television warm up man Bobby Bragg, Matt has been performing stand up all over the country for the last 7 years. With a unique, low energy, deadpan style and meticulously crafted material he has been gaining critical acclaim from audiences, promoters and comedians alike.
“Classic observation comedy delivered with effortless style” – Ricky Gervais
“Jack Dee’s world view, with Frank Skinner’s voice, all wrapped in a Mod’s fashion sense” – Chortle
Matt will be supported on the night by two fabulous acts:
Mitch Benn
Mitch Benn is not only one of the most sought after acts on the comedy circuit, he is also an author, satirical songwriter, musician and actor and is widely acknowledged as one of the best writers/performers of comedy songs in the UK. He is perhaps best known as the resident comic songwriter on BBC Radio 4’s The Now Show from 1999 to 2016. In addition to his work on The Now Show, Mitch has presented several series of his own show on BBC radio, and his TV credits include Live At Jongleurs (ITV), Watchdog (BBC) and The Comedy Store (Ch5).
“Song after song of exquisitely crafted satire” – The Scotsman
“Well crafted, well sung, his songs are just plain funny” – The Guardian
Peter Brush
Peter Brush, a gifted comedian with an inimitable style, has been lighting up stages across the UK and beyond with his unique brand of humour. Known for his distinctive stage presence, marked by a slight bespectacled frame and scruffy hair, Brush has an uncanny ability to captivate audiences with an arsenal of finely-crafted jokes and original routines.
A former BBC New Comedy Award finalist, Brush has a knack for razor-sharp, quirky one-liners, delivered in his signature awkward fashion. His comedic prowess has not only led him to become a staple act at comedy clubs across the country, but also earned him the title of Harrogate Comedian of the Year.
“Compellingly hilarious…first-class gag writing…an original and achingly funny voice” – Chortle
“Unique observations and connections that stand-ups crave” – The Guardian
